Delhi, India’s capital territory is a massive metropolitan area in the country’s north. In Old Delhi, a neighborhood dating to the 1600s stands the imposing Mughal-era Red Fort, a symbol of India, and the sprawling Jama Masjid mosque, whose courtyard accommodates 25,000 people. Nearby is Chandni Chowk, a vibrant bazaar filled with food carts, sweets shops and spice stalls.

Old Delhi or Purani Dilli was founded as a walled city of Delhi, India, founded as Shahjahanabad in 1639, when Shah Jahan, the Mughal emperor at the time, decided to shift the Mughal capital from Agra.
New Delhi is an urban district of Delhi that serves as the capital of India and seat of all three branches of the Government of India. Emperor George V laid the foundation stone of the city during the Delhi Durbar of 1911. British architects, Sir Edwin Lutyens and Sir Herbert Baker, designed it.

Agra has found its mention in the famous Hindu epic Mahabharata as the forest of Agraban close to Mathura Badal Singh founded the city in 1475.
Taj Mahal – Reflects the intensity of love. The fairy tale began when walking through the bazaar of Agra prince qhurram saw a girl. The girl was exceptionally beautiful. It was a love at first sight for both of them. Taj Mahal, which was constructed by Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Construction of the Taj began in 1631 and was not completed until 1653.
Agra Fort – Built by the great Emperor Akbar in 1565 A.D. the fort is a masterpiece of design and construction.

Fatehpur Sikri – Built by Emperor Akbar in 1569, was the old capital of the Moghuls, which was abandoned after 15 years due to scarcity of water. The sloping levels of the city were connected into terraces which were utilised for various complexes such as Jami masjid, Buland-Darwazah and tomb of Sheikh Salim Chishti; Khass Mahal, Shahi-Bazar, Mina-Bazar, the Panch-Mahal, Khwabgah, Diwan-i-Khass, Anup-Talao, Chaupar and Diwan-i-Am. The efficient system of drainage and water supply adopted here suggest an extremely intelligent town-planning by the Mughal emperor.

Jaipur – Popular in the name of Pink City, Jaipur is and important destination in Golden Triangle of Indian tourism. Founded in 1727 AD by one of the greatest rulers of the Kachhawaha clan, the astronomer king Sawai Jai Singh. The pink color was used at the time of making to create an impression of red sandstone buildings of Mughal cities – and repainted in 1876, during the visit of the Prince of Wale Excursion to Amber Fort. Santa Cruz Basilica -This monumental church dates back to 1558 and has beautiful paintings on the ceiling.
St. Francis Church – Built in 1503 by Portuguese Friars, it is the India’s oldest European church. It was restored in 1779 by the protestant Dutch, converted to an Anglican Church by the British in 1795, and is presently used by the church of South India.
Mattancherry -Palace It was built by the Portuguese in 1557 and presented to Raja Veera Kerala Varma of Cochin. The Dutch renovated the palace in 1663. On display here are beautiful murals depicting scenes from the epics, Ramayana and Mahabharata and some of the Puranic legends.

Periyar: tiger Reserve, Thekkady, is an example of nature’s bounty, with great scenic charm, rich bio diversity and providing veritable visitor satisfaction. Sprawled over an area of 777 Sq. km. Periyar is one of the 27 tiger reserves in India. The ancient Mangala Devi temple is perched atop a thickly wooded hill and affords a panoramic view of the scenic surroundings. The temple is located 15 km from Thekkady.

After, drive to Kumarakom.
On arrival, enjoy 2-3 hours of cruising houseboat with snacks and tea at the backwaters of Kerala.
Backwaters – While you are in Cochin, you will come across many backwater options to enchant and refresh you. Some of these picturesque islands are Bolgatty, Vypeen, Gundu and Vallarpadam. Jama Masjid – One of the Architectural gift given by Shah Jahan, Jama Masjid is one of the largest mosques not only in Delhi but in India.
Raj Ghats – Along the banks of Jamuna are located the places were the leaders and freedom fighters of India were cremated.
Laxmi Narayan Temple, also known as Birla Mandir, is one of Delhi’s major temples and a major tourist attraction. Built by the industrialst Sh. J.K. Birla in 1939, this beautiful temple is located in the west of Connaught Place.
The Parliament house is a cirular colonnaded building . It also houses ministerial offices, numerous committee rooms and an excellent library as well. Conceived in the Imperial Style, the Parliament House consists of an open verandah with 144 columns.
The Presidential Palace –This impressive building was once the palace of the british vice king and is now the seat of the Indian President. The building is located in a huge garden. It can’t be visited because it’s not open to the public.
Next to the gate are several government buildings such as the ministry of foreign affairs and the ministry of finance.

Morning visit to Amber Fort enjoy Joy Elephant ride upto the hills and back by jeep ride.
Jaipur the vibrant capital of Rajasthan is popularly known as the ‘ Pink City ‘ because of the pink-coloured buildings in its old city. It sits on a dry lake bed in a somewhat arid landscape, surrounded by barren hills surmounted by forts and crenellated walls.
Amber Fort – Amber is located at a distance of 11 kilometers from Jaipur and was the old fort of the Kachhwaha clan of Amber, which used to be the capital, till it was moved to Jaipur. The construction of the Amber Fort began in the year 1592 and was started by Man Singh I, but it was finished by his descendant Jai Singh.
City Palace & Observatory. The City Palace in the heart of the old city is a blend of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. The fortified wall has seven gates and was built for protection from invading armies and animals that lived in jungles, which surrounded the wall that time.
Visit to Jantar Mantar – the observatory built my Maharaja Jai Singh in 1728 and the façade of Hawa Mahal. Jalmahal – (6 kms) on the way to Amer, this small palace is set in the middle of Man Sagar Lake. Renovation around the lake is in progress. Hawa Mahal – The palace is shaped like a pyramid and is a five-storied building, with number of small windows and screens, with arched roofs. As one looks at this building, one realizes that the rear side of the building is comparatively very plain and lacks much of ornamentation.
Evening we will take you for evening entertainment at local restaurant for Rajasthani cultural dance with dinner at local restaurant.

After breakfast, drive to Agra , enroute Abhaneri Village, Step Well” and Fatehpur Sikri
Abhaneri; one of the places near Jaipur, is a small village in the Dausa district in North Rajasthan. Abhaneri village is located at a short distance of 95 Kms. from Jaipur on Jaipur-Agra highway.
The village is famous for its ancient Step well called ‘Chand Baori. Step wells are a unique concept of India and were used extensively around Rajasthan by erstwhile kings and rulers of different regions of Rajasthan.
These step wells were used as reservoir during monsoon to store water for harsh summer. Within these step wells, they used to build few palatial rooms that can be used once the water level drops. Very intelligently designed, the architecture of these step wells was very useful for storing water as well as making it a temporary residence to avoid summer heat.
Then continue drive to Fatehpur SIkri.
Fathepur Sikri – This magnificent fortifield ghost city was the capital of the Mughal emperor Akbar between 1571 and 1585. The downfall of this once magnificent capital of the Mughals started with the rise of the Jats when Emperor Aurangazeb left this place never to return again. The credit for preserving the ancient monuments situated here goes to Lord Curzon. Since then , these protected monuments and the environs of the city have been well maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India. The city is rectangular in shape with nine huge gates – Delhi Darwaza, Lal Darwaza, Agra Gate, Suraj and Chandra Darwaza, Tehra Gate and Ajmeri Darwaza.

Sunrise is by far the best time to visit the Taj Mahal. Not just because the early morning light turns the dome of the temple a soft, golden colour, but because this is the time when there are the least amount of tourists and if you get in early enough, you might even get some perfect portraits with no people in them. There’s also something magical about watching the sun rise behind the Taj Mahal, a building that symbolises one of the greatest true love stories ever told.
Taj Mahal – Described as the most extravagant monument ever built for love, it was constructed by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan as a memorial to his queen Mumtaz Mahal, made out of white marble took 22 years to complete (1630-1652 AD). Ustad Ahamad Lahori, a Persian Architect, is said to be the main designer and planner for this magnificent memorial.

Agra, a romantic city in India, is known for the marble edifice ‘Taj Mahal’ Besides Taj Mahal, Agra is also known for the Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri, the red sandstone city made by Emperor Akbar.
Agra is a medieval city situated on the banks of the river Yamuna. Sultan Sikandar Lodi, the Ruler of Delhi Sultanate founded it in the year 1504. After the sultan’s death the city passed on to his son Sultan Ibrahim Lodi who ruled his Sultanate from Agra until he fell fighting to Babur in the First battle of Panipat fought in 1526.
Agra fort – Construction of the massive red sandstone Agra Fort on the bank of the Yamuna River was begun by Emperor Akbar in 1565, though additions were made up until the rule of his grandson, Shah Jahan.
Itmad-Ud- Daulah’s Tomb – This tomb belongs to the father of Nur Jahan, Ghias-ud-Din Beg. He was the Wajir or the Chief Minister of Emperor Jehangir. This white marble tomb was built by Nur Jahan between 1622 and 1628. The tomb may not be as mammoth as the Taj but the inlay designs and carvings are no less than Taj if not more. The delicate marble latticework in the passages allows the light to enter the interiors. A similar tomb was built by Nur Jahan for Jehangir in Lahore. This tomb was the first complete marble Moghul structure.

Visit Western Group of Temples – Khajuraho- The architectural style of the Khajuraho temples is very different from the temple prototype of that period. Each stands, instead of within the customary enclosure, on a high masonry platform.
Devi Mandap : Opposite the large Lakshman Temple are two small shrines. The one directly opposite is called Devi Mandap, its cemented peaked roof an indication that it has been renovated during the last century. Varaha Mandap This open pavilion stands to the south of the Devi shrine on a high platform. The mandap stands elevated above the ground with 14 short pillars that support the high pyramidal roof capped with an amalaka and kalash.
Lakshman Temple: This striking temple stands facing the varaha and Devi mandaps. It is one of the three largest temples of khajuraho and the western group of temples and is considered to be the earliest ( c.AD 954 ) to have been built by the chandella rulers.
Kandariya Mahadev Temple – : This is without any doubt the largest and most magnificent temple in Khajuraho. The elegant proportions of this building and its sculptural detailing are the most refined examples of this artistice heritage of central India.
Mahadev Shrine: Between the Kandariya and the devi jagdambi Temples is a small shrine whose purpose is difficult to ascertain. It is called the Mahadev Shrine and consists of a small open – pillared porch and sanctum, the structure has suffered further through renovations during the last century.
Visit to Eastern Group of Temples.
Chaunsath Yogini Temple -Also featuring a fairly extensive collection of erotic stone carvings is the Chaunsath Yogini Temple, a structure dedicated to the goddess Kali and notable for being the only temple in the entire range to have been made from granite.
Hindu Temples Brahman, Vamana and Javari comprise the three Hindu temples within the eastern group. All three temples feature the same style of erotic carvings as the others; while Braham is known for its four-faced lingam statue, Vamana for its sculptures of nymphs, and Javari for its magnificent gateway. Jain Temples Parsvanath which is dedicated to Jain Tirthankara Parshvanatha, is the largest of the Jain Temples and, like the somewhat smaller Adinath (dedicated to the Jain Tirthankara Adinath), features a selection of erotic carvings as well as other stone works telling less sexually explicit stories. Kandariya Mahadev Temple This is the tallest of the temples, not only in the western group but in the entire collection, and is believed to have been built around 1025 in honour of Lord Shiva. This 30-metre-high structure features erotic carvings along its northern and southern faces but also a variety of others depicting women engaged in non-sexual activity.
Archaeological Museum -Situated in a building adjacent to the Matangeshwar Temple, the Archaeological Museum was established by government officer WA Jardine in 1910 as a place to house the loose statues and sculptures found lying on the grounds of the ruined ancient temples.

Ganges: Ghats are the steps on the bank of Ganges that lead down to the river, from where the pilgrims make their sin- cleaning dip in the holy water of the river.

The aarti is performed on a stage by a group of young pandits, all draped in saffron colored robes with their puja plates spread out before them. It commences with the blowing of a conch shell, and continues with the waving of incense sticks in elaborate patterns and circling of large flaming lamps that create a bright hue against the darkened sky.

Varanasi: It has been known as Kashi and Banaras, its present name is a restoration of the ancient name meaning the city between the two rivers Varun and Asi. The internal city id one of the most important pilgrimages sites in India. Situated on the bank of the sacred river Ganges, Kashi , Vishwanath temple. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Khatri, leading numismatists and antiquarians. Durga Temple – commonly called the ‘Monkey temple’, it was built in the 18th century. Although it is one of the best-known temple. Beware of the monkeys here who are daring and menacing. Tulsi Manas Temple – Constructed by family of Varanasi, this modern temple is dedicated to Lord Rama. It is situated at the place Where Tulisdas, the great medieval seer, lived and wrote the epic “Shri Ramcharitmanas”, which narrates the life of Lord Rama, the hero of the Ramayana.
Sarnath: One of the Major Buddhist centers in India. Having achieved enlightenment in Bdhgaya. It was at Sarnath where Buddha came to peach his massage of the middle way to final nirvana. Later Emperor Ashoka erected many magnificent stupas and other buildings here. Sarnath was at its peak when Chinese Traveller Fa hian and Hiuen Tsang visited the site.

Fatehpur Sikri is a small city in northern India, just west of Agra, founded by a 16th-century Mughal emperor. Red sandstone buildings cluster at its center. Jodha Bais Palace is a mix of Hindu and Mughal styles, next to the 5-story Panch Mahal that overlooks the site.
Abhaneri, located at a distance of 95 km from Jaipur on Jaipur-Agra Road, is a village in the Dausa district of Rajasthan. The place is widely popular as it is home to a colossal stepwell, Chand Baori, which is considered among the most beautiful stepwells of India. The village of Abhaneri is believed to have been established by Samrat Mihir Bhoj who was a Gurjar Pratihar king.
The village was originally named Abha Nagri, which means the “city of brightness”; however, with time, due to mispronunciation of the term, it has changed to Abhaneri.

Jaipur- Popular in the name of Pink City, Jaipur is and important destination in Golden Triangle of Indian tourism founded in 1727 AD by one of the greatest rulers of the Kachhawaha clan, the astronomer king Sawai Jai Singh. The pink color was used at the time of making to create an impression of red sandstone buildings of Mughal cities – and repainted in 1876, during the visit of the Prince of Wale Excursion to Amber Fort. Visit several prominent attractions like the Jakhu Temple, Hanuman Temple and Christ Church.
This temple has the world’s largest Hanuman statue, which is visible from most parts of Shimla. Visit the temple, to view this statue upright and strain your neck a bit admiring its magnificence.
Located at the Mall Road itself, this church is the second oldest church in North India. The interiors and the neo-gothic architecture are very beautiful and appealing making this church one of the most important attractions in Shimla.
The Ridge is a large open space located in the heart of Shimla. It is among the most visited Shimla tourist places. The Ridge is situated along the Mall Road which is the famous shopping center of Shimla.
In the afternoon, proceed for an excursion to Kufri from Shimla where you can rejuvenate yourself amidst the dense forests, snow-capped mountains and exotic flora and fauna.
While in Shimla, visit its colder, higher and less crowded cousin, Kufri just 13 km away from the main town. The views and sceneries here only get better, and the landscapes more flattering, a bit untouched with the tourist rush.

After breakfast, proceed for a full day tour of Dharamshala including Dalai Lama’s village, Mcleodganj region, Bhagsunath Temple, St. John’s Church, Dal Lake and Talnoo – highest point in Dharamshala that gives best view of the Dhauladhar range.
Visit War Memorial Garden. This is situated well before the main bus stand near Dharamsala College. This is very bright and colorful building with a neatly built red and white brick wall as the boundary. The garden is dedicated to all those brave men who have sacrificed their lives while defending the mother land. The walls of the memorial garden have the names of the brave martyr’s all over them as a sign of respect towards them.
About 1 km from the memorial is the international cricket stadium which should also be on the visit list. Unlike any of the other grounds around the country this stadium has a unique architecture that immediately catched the eye. The view of the terrain around the stadium and the greenery makes it an excellent picture spot. By virtue of its setting in nature, it is beyond doubt the most attractive cricket stadium in India. An additional feature is the nearby scenic Dharamsla College covered in the trees lined together on one side. All three sites can easily be covered by 1100hrs
The next destination should be the Tsuglagkhang Temple (The Dalai Lama,s Temple). The Temple is about 7 km from the stadium and will take about 30 minutes to reach. It is in Upper Dharamsala or McLeod GAnj where this temple is situated. It is here that the teachings of his Holiness the Dalai Lama take place every year. The temple has a number of rotating prayer wheels. A prayer wheel is a cylinder which has thousands of prayers written in papers inside them. The rotation of these wheels signifies a prayer being enchanted.
Later in the afternoon your next destination should be the Bhagsu Nag Temple. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is 8 kms, from the Tsuglagkhang Temple. The travel time between the two sites is 45
minutes. One can reach Bhagsu Nag at about 1515hrs. a fresh water spring. In which pilgrims take a Holy
dip flows through the temple. According to the legend, 5000 years ago, Nagdevta, the snake God was drawn into a battle with the local king Bhagsu who challenged to steal water from the sacred Nag Dallake. King Bhagsu was bested and forgiven by the Snake God and the site was consecrated Bhagsu Nag. About one km from the temple and at walk able distance is the beautiful Bhagsu waterfall. The waterfall is a must visit especially during the rainy seasons when the fall has ample water for both scenic beauty and enjoyment.
As into the early evening the penultimate site to be visited is the St. John’s Church in the Wilderness. It is 6 km from the waterfalls. The tourist can drop at Dal Lake while travelling to the destination since it falls on the way. It is an Anglican church located in a forest. The neo Gothic structure of the church was constructed in 1852.

gold and silver gilded palanquin (palki), decorated with silk brocades, is prepared by the devotees to carry the Guru Granth Sahib (the Holy Book) from the main shrine in Hari Mandir to Darshani Deorhi (gateway leading to the inner sanctum).

The Man Mandir palace a double storeyed palace famous for its stone carvings and latticework. Teli ka Mandir, a ninth century structure, which is over a 100 feet in height is an astonishing mixture of Hindu and Muslim structural design. It is a mystical and spiritual experience as you watch people offering water to the Sun God and devotees taking holy dip in the Ganges. We will visit all the famous Ghats of Varanasi via boat. Latter visit the most religious Kashi Vishwanath temple, Annapurna Temple, the Bharat Mata temple.
Come back to hotel for breakfast.
Later in Afternoon, we will be taken for an excursion to Sarnath.
Sarnath is the place where Buddha delivered his first sermon to his disciples. The attractions at Sarnath are the Buddha temples, the Dhamekha stupa, Chaukhandi stupa and the archaeological museum.

The Dakshineswar Kali Temple is located in Dakshineswar near Kolkata on the eastern bank of the Hooghly River and dedicated to Bhavatarini, an aspect of Kali Maa. Dakshineswar Kali Temple is one of the most famous temple in India and one of the biggest temple in Kolkata.
The Belur Mutt is located on the west bank of Hooghly River and headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission. Belur Math is a institutions and a temple, notable for its architecture of Hindu, Christian and Islamic as a symbol of unity of all religions.

Morning at sunrise visit the world famous Taj Mahal, built by the Mughal Emperor Shahjehan in 1630 for his queen Mumtaz Mahal to enshrine her mortal remains, Also visit the Agra Fort, containing the Pearl Mosque – the rusty and majestic red – sandstone fort of Agra stands on the banks of the river Yamuna and the construction was started by Emperor Akbar in 1566. At the Diwan – I – Khas (hall of private audience) where marble pavilions with floral inlays lend an ethereal ambience, the Emperor sat on his gem – studded peacock Throne and met foreign ambassadors and rulers of friendly kingdoms. Early morning boat ride on the holy river Ganges to view the religious activity at the bathing Ghats for an insight into the cultural background of India . It provides an absorbing spectacle of thousands of Hindus engaged in their ritual bathing. Later excursion to Sarnath, 10kms. East of Varanasi, is one of the Buddhism’s major centers of India . After attaining enlightenment, the Buddha came to Sarnath where he gave his first sermon. Mahabalipuram is a small, quiet seaside resort with a unique 7th century Shore Temple , a lovely beach and some of the most beautiful rock cut temples in the world. Situated on the shore of the Bay of Bengal , Mahabalipuram was already a famous seaport in the 1st century AD. This, town was a workshop for temple building. Visit the seven pagoda style shore temples, lashed by the waves of the sea and the seven rathas or temple chariots, a group of monolithic monuments & animal figures carved out of solid rock, the earliest known examples of Dravidian architecture. They were constructed in a single century long burst of creative enthusiasm, starting in the reign of Narasimhavarman 1 (AD 63068).
