Birding Programme In Comoros

Moroni – Moheli island – Anjouan island – Mayotte

Day 01 : Arrive Moroni
Arrival at Moroni, Meet assist and transfer to hotel. Start of Comoros birding Services. Full day birding.  Afternoon excursion at Iconi for egrets, kingfishers and other sea birds at Marabou Lake.
Overnight at hotel.

Day 02 : Moroni
After Breakfast, Proceed to Full day excursion to Mount Karthala. Overnight camping on the mountain at famous Karthala Scops owl, Comoro bulbul, Karthala white eye, Comoro cukoo shrike etc
Overnight at hotel.

Day 03 : Moroni
After Breakfast, Proceed to the way down, Humblot’s  flycatcher , Grand Comoro Paradise Flycatcher, Karthala Thrush, Comoros.Afternoon excursion to Chongodunda to discover grand Comoro Drongo, Comoro sunbirds, Comoro Cuckoo roller, Grand Comoro Green Sunbird. Comoro blue pigeon and Comoro Fodi, Grand Comoro Humblot’s Sunbird, Comoro Olive pigeon, Cape Turtle Dove, Comoro Tambourine dove. Overnight at hotel.

Day 04 : Moroni – Moheli island
After Breakfast Proceed to Arrive in Moheli and transfer to hotel. Excursion to Miringoni to see the very famous Moheli green pigeon and Moheli brush warbler and Thrush. Overnight at hotel.

Day 05 : Moheli island
After Breakfast Proceed to Drive  to Ziroundani  for birds’ camp to look for Moheli Green Sunbird, Moheli blue Vagan and Moheli scops Owls.
Overnight at hotel.

Day 06 : Moheli — Anjouan island
After Breakfast Proceed to Anjouan island. Afternoon/evening excursion to Dzialandze to look for Anjouan Scops Owls. Overnight at hotel.

Day 07 : Anjouan island
After Breakfast Proceed Discover a variety of indigenous birds, Anjouan cuckoo roller, Anjouan sunbirds, Pale Paradise Flycatcher etc. Overnight at hotel.

Day 08 : Anjouan island – Mayott e
After Breakfast Proceed to Mayotte. Welcome and transfer to Relais Forestier, a very special birding lodge.  Here you can see all endemic birds easily around the lodge without guide, that include the evening Mayotte Scops owls singing around the lodge. Overnight at hotel.

Day 09 : Mayotte
After Breakfast Proceed to full day birding around this rich natural location.
Overnight at hotel.

Day 10 : Mayotte to Moroni
After Breakfast Proceed to Moroni. half-day birding on Moroni.
Overnight at hotel.

Day 11 : Depart Moroni
Departure transfer to onward destination.

Comoros Islands

Moroni – Moheli island – Anjouan island

Day 01 : Arrive Moroni
Arrival at Moroni, Meet assist and transfer to hotel, free day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 02 : Moroni
After Breakfast, Proceed to famous fishing village of Iconi. Visit the ruins of the sultan palace built in the 18^th century and photo stop at the historical adjacent cliffs where local ladies commit suicide in the time of slavery. Visit of famous Marabou lake  and continuation to the ylang ylang and spices plantation. Visite famous ylang ylang distillerie and drive back to Moroni for national museum, olad market and Medina with its beautiful narrow streets and colourful material shops.Overnight at  hotel.

Day 03 : Moroni
After Breakfast, Proceed to Full day tour of Grande Comore, Comorian traditional folkloric dances  In  Mbeni village. Including visits to Mitsaniouli village, a Ylang-Ylang plantation, Lac Sale salt lake and Chomoni with its excellent beach. Overnight at  hotel.

Day 04 : Moroni – Moheli island
After Breakfast, Proceed to the beautiful Moheli island with its marin parks. Drive to Laka Logde bungalows.Overnight at hotel.

Day 05 : Moheli island
After Breakfast, Proceed to enjoy this beautiful island. We have not pre-arranged  sightseeing and activities in Moheli which is very easy to explore. Relax and enjoy the different pace of life and meet the friendly local people. You have most beautiful beaches, Sambadjou and Nioumachoua. You can also snorkel to discover the rich marine life or even go whale and dolphin watching. Finally at certain times of the year you may be lucky enough to see giant turtles lay their eggs at night on Itsamia beaches.Overnight at hotel.

Day 06 : Moheli —Anjouan island
After Breakfast, Proceed to Anjouan island, pearl of Indian Ocean. City tour of Mutsamudu to discover historical citadels and Medina of Mutsamudu.  Overnight at hotel.

Day 07 : Anjouan island
After Breakfast, Proceed full day tour of Anjouan. Visit of the col de Patsy with its famous valley and spice plantations. Continuation to the Ylang ylang distillery of Bambao and proceed  to the famous Tatringafalls before stopping at Domoni to discover the historical muselet of late president Abdallah. Pic nique lunch and drive to the agricultural lands of Nyumakele before returning  to the hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Day 08 : Anjouan island – Moroni
After Breakfast, Proceed to Moroni Gde Comore.  Overnight at the hotel.

Day 09 : Depart Moroni
Departure transfer to onward destination.

Day 01 : Arrive Moroni
Arrival at Moroni, Meet assist and transfer to hotel. Special city tour of Moroni and surroundings.   Drive to famous fishing village of Iconi. Visit the ruins of the sultan palace built in the 18^th century and photo stop at the historical adjacent cliffs where local ladies commit suicide in the time of slavery return to Moroni for the Medina with its narrow streets and colourful material shops.Visit old market and return to the hotel.  Overnight at hotel.

Day 02 : Moroni
After Breakfast, Proceed the full day beautiful north of the island. Photo stop at the table land of Diboini with its seven cones of instinct volcano craters. Comorian traditional folkloric dances  In  Mbeni village followed by visit of agricultural cooperative with its local perfume plants and distillery.  See local lemurs and tortoises. Continuation to beautiful Bouni beach for Barbecue After Lunch,Visit of famous Dragon Rocks and best panoramic view of the turttles’ islands.  Turttles use to lay the eggs on the beach.  Continuation to the Salt Lake which water is reputed to heel skin diseases.Visit of famous miracle mosque and drive back to the hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Day 03 : Moroni
After Breakfast, Proceed to discover  the rich fauna and flora of the island in the La grille Tropical rain forest.  Visit a variety of indigenous aromatic and medicinal plants. See the different fern trees and rare orchid flowers.  You have opportunity to see lemurs and endigenous birds. Overnight at hotel.

Day 04 : Depart Moroni

The tour continues to the Marabou lake with its wonderful legends of witchcraft. Visit of agricultural cooperative and eco-museum of the island and continuation to the famous Portuguese tombs of the 14^th centuryThese were the first European navigators across Indian Ocean and Mozambic channels in 14^th century. Visit the Dragon rocks with its nice scenery and panoramic view of turtles island. Photo stop at Salt lake  which water is reputed to heel skin diseases. Drive to the Livingstone bats, very extinct indigenous bats living only in the island. Visit of famous ylang ylang plantations and local permume distillery which virtious is massage oil and skin diseases. See famous baobab bottles at Domoni. Overnight at the hotel.
