Holidays in Bali and Nusa Penida | 09 Nights / 10 Days
Ubud Bali – Nusa Penida
Day 01 : Arrive Ubud Bali
Arrival at Ngurah Rai International Airport, customs procedures and upon arrival on the Island of the Gods, Bali, our guide will be waiting for you to take you to the hotel planned in Ubud. This is an area of rice fields and unspoiled nature, located in the center of Bali Island.
On the way to Ubud you can already discover the different villages of Bali, each specializing in one of the many typical handicrafts, with wood works, stone sculptors, silver & goldsmiths or painters. Along the way you can start admiring the thousands of temples that dot the island, and feel the scent of incense that perfumes the whole island.
Arrival at the hotel, distribution of the rooms and rest of the afternoon, free at your disposal.
Day 02 : Ubud Bali
After enjoying your breakfast at the hotel, we will pick you up at your hotel and start our route to Goa Gajah, the Elephant Cave. Goa Gajah is quoted in the lontar, (manuscript on palm leaf) Nagarakertagama of 1635 as a Balinese place called Lwa Gajah (Elephant Water or River), the abode of a Buddhist priest.
The entrance consists of a monstrous head with an open mouth and two hands that seem to open the entrance like a theater curtain. Around there are fantastic figures sculpted from leaves, animals, waves and humans fleeing scared from the mouth. Both Hindu and Buddhist elements have been found on this same site. In fact, the cave can attest to an ancient forerunner of Hindu and Buddhist symbology that today broadly defines Bali’s culture.
Afterwards, we will purify ourselves in Tirta Empul,a legendary setting for a traditional story about good versus evil. The Tirta Empul spring feeds several purification baths, swimming pools and fish ponds surrounding the outer perimeter, flowing into the Tukad Pakerisan River. Just before the end of this tour, we will visit the Gunung Kawi Sebatu Temple. It is one of the least visited temple complexes on the island of Bali, however, it is one of the most beautiful and quiet. It has green gardens around ponds full of blooming lotuses and tents, and ancient shrines surrounded by crystal clear pools fed by natural springs.
Finally before returning to your Ubud hotel, we will stop at the famous rice terraces of Tegalalang where we will see the daily life of the locals and where you will find several swings to take photos and take a precious memory of your time in Bali.
Day 03 : Ubud Bali
Our wonderful tour begins today at Kehen Temple. It is an ancient complex of Hindu temples with unique architectural features. Stairs stretching from the ground to the temple courtyard are mythical figures of sandstone animals and Balinese folk statues and also the central lobby. The walls of the temple are also adorned with Chinese porcelain dishes, which are a tribute to the historical relations between the local kingdom of Bali and China.
Afterwards, we continued towards Penglipuran, a people who managed to preserve its 75-hectare bamboo forest located in the northern part of the village. The members of this village have a strong commitment to the system of “ayahan desa”, a philosophy committed to respect for the land on which the village sits.
After Panglipuran Village, we continue our march to reach Kintamani where we will enjoy the beautiful view of Lake Batur along with Mount Batur in the background. Lake Batur is Bali’s largest lake that serves as a source of irrigation for all surrounding farmers and use for all Balinese society in general.
Since 1800, Mount Batur has erupted more than 20 times and is still active so far. Mount Batur, with 1. 717 meters high, it is considered the female element, next to the male element of Mount Agung. We returned to the hotel to rest.
Day 04 : Ubud Bali
After breakfast, your guide will pick you up and we will visit the places on the fantastic route of come2indonesia. The first place will be the Taman Ayun Temple (was founded in the 17th century), located in the Village of Mengwi which until 1891 was the seat of a powerful dating back to the Gelgel Dynasty, which is circling through a moat that looks like a landscaped shrine, which explains the term taman, or garden. The temple is a penyawangan or place to worship other sacred sites.
From Taman Ayun, the compass heads towards Jatiluwih, where we will undoubtedly admire and enjoy a beautiful view of rice terraces that encompass the entire landscape of South Bali. The name Jatiluwih is composed of two words, Jati which means truly and Luwih meaning beautiful, good, special. Without a doubt, this place not only has a beautiful name but is really beautiful.
From Jatiluwih, we will go to Bedugul where we will visit the Ulun Danu BratanTemple, the famous temple that stands in a small foundation located on the beach of Lake Beratan and has the beautiful landscape with the lake and the mountain as a backdrop. It is without a doubt one of the most photogenic temples in all of Indonesia. This temple is dedicated to Dewi Danu, water goddess.
We will close the visit on this fantastic route and end the day watching the sunset in Bali’s most famous and photographed temple, Pura Tanah Lot. Cleared from the earth on a stone pedestal sculpted by incoming tides, the solitary black towers of Tanah Lot and the foliage plumes shed by the cliffs recall the delicacy of Chinese painting. The Pura Tanah Lot or the Temple of Land in the Middle of the Sea was built in the sixteenth century. Then we return to hotel.
Day 05 : Ubud Bali
After picking you up at your hotel, we will visit the main temple of every island, the Mother Besakih Temple and its surroundings. We will leave along the coast to reach Kusamba, a fishing village, where the coloristic Batangas prahu dot the black sand beaches. You will know the salting process by the traditional method.
We continue our journey on the east coast to reach the Goa Lawah Temple, a cave “guarded” by thousands of bats where their bodies are concentrated in so little space that the surface of the upper wall looks like an irregular silky matter. Goa Lawah is a sacred temple and is surrounded by altars that protect its entrance.
Over the course of the trip to Mother Besakih Temple, we will enjoy a magnificent landscape in Bukit Jambul, the ridge hill, a breathtaking view of nature filled with rice fields and tropical plants. We go down the hill and we set off to reach the main temple, the largest temple on the island, the Besakih Mother Temple, located on the slopes of Agung Volcano, whose once exploded in 1963, just the day thousands of Balinese were celebrating one of the most important days of the Hindu calendar.
This temple was founded in the 8th century as a terraced shrine in honor of the gods of Gunung Agung. Today it comprises 22 main complexes with more than eighty small temples. Wefinish our excursion with the visit of the Court of Justice in Ancient Kerta Gosa, it is an uncovered bale, beautifully exposed inside a moat. It is decorated with exquisite examples of Kemasan paintings and Klungkung architecture. At the end of this day in the eastern part of Bali, we will take you back to your hotel.
