Day 01 Arrive Kathmandu

Arrival at Kathmandu airport, transfer to hotel.

Day 02 Kathmandu

After breakfast, discover the impressive stupa of Bodhnath, the largest in Nepal. Walk in the neighborhood where a large Tibetan community lives.

Day 03 Kathmandu

After breakfast, Morning tour of Swayambunath, whose two thousand year old stupa dominates the valley. Stroll through Durbar Square, the monumental center of Kathmandu founded in the 12th century by the Malla rulers. It houses the ancient royal palace, the home of the living goddess, the Kumari, pagodas, temples and beautifully crafted mansions. Continue to Pashupatinath, one of the holiest Hindu centers in the country located on the banks of the Bagmati.

Day 04 Kathmandu

After breakfast, Excursion to the village of Changu Narayan and its richly decorated sanctuary. Continue to the medieval city of Bhaktapur, and its magnificent palaces and temples, its potters’ square and its charming alleys. Back in Kathmandu, free time in the commercial district of Thamel.

Day 05 Kathmandu – Paro – Thimphu

After breakfast, Flight to Paro and continuation by road to Thimphu, capital of Bhutan, at 2,500 m altitude. Discover the magnificent paintings and sculptures of the Memorial Chorten and stroll through the main shopping street.

Day 06 Thimphu

After breakfast, discover the school of painting, sculpture and embroidery. Continuation to the folklore museum, a pretty 300-year-old house that recreates traditional housing. Discovery of a paper factory and the beautiful textile museum. Visit the Tashichho dzong, built in 1627. Seat of the government of Bhutan, it is the most impressive building in the city.

Day 07 Thimphu – Punakha

After breakfast, Pass the Dochu pass at an altitude of 3,100 m, from where you can see the first peaks of the eastern face of the Himalayas. Further on, stop at Lobeysa for a walk through the fields to the monastery of Chimi, built in the 15th century. Discovery of the Punakha dzong, beautifully situated at the confluence of two rivers.

Day 08 Punakha – Paro

After breakfast, Ascension on foot about 1 hour to the 17th century Chorten Ningpo and its large statue of Matreya also possible by bus. Continue to Paro considered one of the first valleys of Bhutan to have received the Buddhist imprint, as evidenced by the temple of Kyichu founded in the 7th century.

Day 09 Paro

After breakfast, Excursion to Taksang monastery, nicknamed the Tiger Refuge, perched at more than 3,000 m. It is one of the most revered places of pilgrimage in the Himalayan world. Approx. Three hour round trip through pine forests on a steep trail. Possibility of doing part of the horseback ride to be paid on site.

Day 10 Paro

After breakfast, Visit the Rinpung dzong, and Ta dzong, an old watchtower transformed into a national museum. After a pleasant walk through forests and typical villages, you will discover the ruins of the fortress of Drukgyel. Free time in the shopping street.

Day 11 Paro – Kathmandu

After breakfast, Flight to Kathmandu. Excursion to the Budhanilkantha temple and its astonishing statue of Vishnu lying on the primordial serpent. Continue to the restored palace of Babar Mahal. Visit the Siddhartha contemporary art gallery to share a coffee with the artists. Preparation in a family of the famous Tibetan dumplings “momo”, which you taste with your hosts.

Day 12 Kathmandu

After breakfast, Stroll through the Newar village of Bungamati, then visit the monuments of Patan, the ancient royal capital and city of art, its numerous temples, palaces and sacred basins adorned with sculptures. Visit the beautiful museum, and stop in a workshop of ironworkers.

Day 13 Depart Kathmandu

Departure transfer to Kathmandu International Airport for flight to onward destination.

Day 01 Arrive Paro – L – D By Flight

Arrival in Paro, Bhutan. We will be welcomed by our national French-speaking guide who will make us discover all the riches of the kingdom of Bhutan. Transfer to Timphou, the country’s capital. On the way, we will stop at the spectacular Buddha Dordenma, a statue covered with gold whose location offers a breathtaking view of the valley.

Day 02 Paro – Thimphu B – L – D By Road 51 Kms / 01 hrs 21 min appx.

Lunch. Departure for the discovery of the Bhutanese capital. Visit the commemorative chörten where we will stroll with the locals, in meditation. Then we will visit the folk museum which will immerse us in the Bhutan of yesteryear, before visiting the royal textile museum. The latter presents an important collection of weavings from the four corners of the country. Having dinner. The afternoon will be devoted to the discovery of the national school of painting, dedicated to the teaching of the traditional arts of Bhutan. Continue with a visit to the Tashi Chhoe dzong, a building that is both administrative and religious, built in 1641.

Day 03 Thimphu – Punakha B – L – D By Road 86 Kms / 02 hrs 27 min appx.

Lunch. Departure for Punakha, the former capital of the country, via the Dochu-la pass. Located at over 3000 meters above sea level, it offers a sublime view of the Himalayas and the valleys of the region on a clear day. Visit the Chime Lakhang temple after a short walk in the surrounding fields. Built in honor of Lama Kunley, it is visited each year by hundreds of couples wanting a child. Having dinner. Continue by visiting the Punakha dzong, located at the confluence of two rivers. A veritable fortress, the dzong hosted the coronation of the country’s first king. Installation at the hotel.

Day 04 Punakha – Jakar B – L – D By Road 204 Kms / 07 hrs appx.

Lunch. Departure for Jakar crossing the many valleys that make up Bhutan. Along the way, we will visit the dzong Ta, in Trongsa, which has been converted into a museum of Buddhist art. Having dinner. Continue the road to Jakar passing the Pele-La pass, located at 3300 meters above sea level and natural border between east and west of Bhutan. The landscapes of the Bhutanese hinterland, made up of pastures and forests, will enchant us. Installation at the hotel.

Day 05 Jakar B – L – D

We will start the Day with a visit to the Kurje Lakhang temple complex. The latter contains the imprint of Guru Rinpoche who meditated in these places. Jambay Lakhang, for his part, is recognized as one of the 108 temples built overnight to master a demoness. Picnic by the river. Then we will take a short walk to the Tamshing Lakhang temple where we can admire the paintings of the 1000 Buddhas. At the end of the afternoon, we will observe the making of Bhutanese gourmet dishes during a cooking workshop. This will be the perfect opportunity to demystify the savory seasonings that make up this simple but spicy cuisine.

Day 06 Jakar – Paro B – L – D By Flight

Breakfast then, depending on the flight schedule, transfer to Jakar airport. Flight to Paro. On a clear day, the flight offers a superb view of the Himalayan foothills. Arrival and dinner. In the afternoon, we will visit the National Museum of Bhutan which presents many artefacts from past eras as well as the country’s biodiversity. We will take the opportunity to visit the dzong located nearby. A more administrative than religious building, it houses a court of law where disputes between citizens are settled. Installation at the hotel. In the evening, we will attend a friendly archery competition, while learning the basics of this ancestral sport.

Day 07 Paro B – L – D

Breakfast. The Day will be devoted to the conquest of one of the most beautiful sites in Bhutan, the Taktsang monastery, better known as the “Tiger Den”. The hike necessary to get there will be an opportunity to admire the Paro Valley in addition to the peaks surrounding it. Clinging to a cliff at more than 3000 meters above sea level, the monastery enjoys an unobstructed location which will allow us to see it throughout the climb. Dinner at the vegetarian cafeteria, on the path, then back down. Return to the hotel and free time.

Day 08 Paro – Kathmandu B – D By Flight

Transfer to Paro airport according to the flight schedule. Flight to Kathmandu, the capital and largest city of Nepal. As soon as we are greeted by our national French-speaking guide, we will be able to see all the excitement that reigns here. Transfer and installation at the hotel. Having dinner. In the afternoon, we will visit the ancient city of Patan which is today a district of Kathmandu. With its Durbar Square where several temples and palaces have been built, we will dive into the Nepal of yesteryear. Our discovery of the area will also allow us to measure the importance of coexistence between Buddhists and Hindus in the city. Return to the hotel.

Day 09 Kathmandu B – D

Very early departure for a flight over the Himalayas with champagne toast if the weather permits. We will then have the opportunity to see the immensity of this mountain range including the highest peaks in the world. The highlight of the show, Everest will impose its magnificence on us in the midst of the other summits. Return to the hotel and have lunch. Depart for Swayambhunath, an imposing site overlooking the city and teeming with activities. We will continue with the visit of old Kathmandu. Durbar Square will allow us to learn more about royalty in the country. We will take this opportunity to discover the house of the living goddess Kumari and, if luck is on our side, to see it. A rickshaw ride will take us to Thamel. Having dinner. The afternoon will be spent visiting the villages of Bungamati and Khokana. Both founded in medieval times, they will allow us to discover the traditions of the Newars, a people originally from the Kathmandu Valley. Return to the hotel.

Day 10 Katmandou – BhaktapurBhaktapur – Nagarkot B – D By RoadBy Road 27 Kms / 01 hrs 17 min appx.

Lunch at the hotel. Departure for Bhaktapur, ancient Newar city located not far from the Nepalese capital. We will discover the secrets of this city while admiring the work of the different artisans who have settled there. Potters, wood sculptors and painters make today the fame of this city steeped in history and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Having dinner. We will resume the road to the small village of Panauti where we will discover its charming historic center and its Place Durbar. Transfer to Nagarkot and installation at the hotel. The highest point in the valley, the village enjoys a breathtaking view of the Himalayas which will allow us to admire all the splendor of this legendary mountain range during the sunset.

Lunch at the hotel. Return to Kathmandu and flight to Bharatpur. Arrival in the south of the country and transfer to the lodge near Chitwan National Park. Installation and dinner. In the afternoon, we will begin our discovery of the first national park in the country. A safari on the back of an elephant will take us to the heart of the dense jungle and allow us to observe the important efforts to preserve the different animal and plant species.

Day 12 Chitwan B – L – D

While the villages are still sleeping but the birds are waking up, a walk in the jungle will give us a new angle on the park. Return to the lodge and have lunch. Day dedicated to the discovery of the park where we will be introduced to the care of elephants by talking with their guards. We will have the chance to participate in jeep and boat safaris, accompanied by a naturalist guide, during which we may see one of the most famous inhabitants of the park, the Indian rhino. In the evening, we will experience immersion in rites and superstitions while observing the local shaman.

Day 13 Chitwan – Pokhara B – D By Road 86 Kms / 02 hrs 27 min appx.

Breakfast at the lodge. We will take the road towards Pokhara, one of the big cities of the country and starting point of the treks towards the Annapurna massif. Going north, the tropical climate will give way to more temperate regions covered with hills and crossed rivers. Arrival in Pokhara and installation at the hotel. Having dinner. Depart for a boat trip on Lake Phewa, the second largest in the country. From our boats, we can admire the mountains surrounding the city and see the aerial ballet of the paragliders. Return to the hotel.

Day 14 Pokhara – ThukalotThukalot – Pokhara B – D

Early departure to Thukalot where we can admire the breathtaking panorama offered by Annapurna while having our lunch at sunrise. A whole range of colors will unfold on the snow-covered slopes of the peaks of this chain where the Machapuchare, the most sacred mountain in the region, sits enthroned. Pink, orange and yellow will gradually replace the blue, purple and gray of the night as the sun slowly rises. After this unique spectacle, we will discover the enchanting site of the World Peace Pagoda, built thanks to the initiative of Japanese Buddhist monks. Having dinner. Afternoon in Pokhara to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the city at our leisure. At the end of the Day, a tea with a Sherpa will allow us to chat with a mountain enthusiast.

Day 15 Pokhara – Kathmandu B – D By Flight

Breakfast at the hotel. According to the flight schedule, transfer to Pokhara airport then flight to Kathmandu. Installation at the hotel then dinner. In the afternoon, we will visit an orphanage where children from various backgrounds live. In the evening, we will visit the site of Bodnath, one of the biggest stupas in the world. We will mingle with the believers, including several women dressed in traditional Tibetan clothes since it is also the gathering point of this community in Nepal. Goodbye supper in an enchanting setting.

Arrival at Kathmandu airport and transfer to the old town of Patan, suburb of Kathmandu.

Day 02 Patan – Bodhanath B – D By Road 33 Kms / 30 min appx.

Patan is a town inhabited mainly by Buddhist Newars. These are skilled craftsmen who work with bronze. The statues of Buddhist and Hindu deities of the monasteries and temples of Nepal leave their workshops. You can attend certain stages of molding.

They are also famous tangka painters.

Each district has a temple, a chatriya, a carved fountain where women gather for the offerings, for the fetching of water.

You can visit the Patan Museum in the former royal palace, which has been very well restored. Sit at dusk on the palace square where the old grandpa newars meet.

Admire the golden temple hidden in a courtyard and the Thousand Buddha temple carved in stone.

The small town of Bodnath is built around the largest stupa in the valley. Buddhists from across the country gather there and circle around at sunrise and sunset, chanting mantras. Sherpas, tamangs, exiled Tibetans, bothias often dressed in traditional chuba form a smiling and soothing crowd with the common bond of being from Tibet.

Visit the imposing Buddhist monasteries of the school of yellow cap gelugpa, nyngmapa school of elders and kagyupa. Night in a hotel near the stupa.

Also, singing bowl session at the end of the Day.

Day 03 Bodhnath – Nagarkot B – D By Road 25 Kms / 01 hrs appx.

Transfer to Nagarkot, to the highest mountains in the world.

Located on the ridges of hills at 2000m above sea level, Nagarkot enjoys one of the most beautiful views of the snow-capped Himalayan range.

Walk on the surrounding paths through rice terraces and Tamang villages.

Overnight in a hotel overlooking the peaks of the Ganesha Mountains, Manaslu and Everest.

Day 04 Nagarkot – Namobudha B – D By Road 38 Kms / 01 hrs 50 min appx.

Well installed on the roof of our hotel to admire the sunrise over the Himalayas, before our departure for Namobudha, a sacred place for all Buddhists. This is where the Buddha would have given his arm to a hungry tigress to eat. A monastic city was built on the hill in his honor.

You will attend a Buddhist ceremony in the heart of the monastery. The song of hundreds of monks resonates with the sounds of the horns and conches.

Walk in the Nepalese countryside through the Tamang and Newar villages to meet its inhabitants.

Day 05 Namobhudha – Bhaktapur B – D By Road 27 Kms / 01 hrs appx.

Easy short hike along a wide path from the hills of Namobudha to the green valley of Balthali and Panauti. The landscape of terraced rice fields and mandarin orchards is a delight. A Balthali stroll through the Brahmin farming village, the fields form a colorful patchwork on a sunny plateau.

Then transfer to Baktapur with a stop to visit the village of Panauti.

Installation in a charming Newar style hotel in the center of the ancient royal city of Baktapur.

Day 06 Bhaktapur B – D

Two nights in Baktapur gives us the privilege of living a little to the rhythm of this medieval city. Early in the morning, women in colorful saris or in traditional black and red outfits go to place their offerings at the temples. The traders open their tiny shops of tea, basketwork, repair of watches or umbrellas. The peasants leave for the fields which still surround the city.

Baktapur remains the most autonomous city in the valley. Farmers, artisans, potters, traders. During the Day you will visit this Unesco heritage site: Durbar Square or Rira Palace square with its beautiful statues of the goddess Durga and Bhairav. The Golden Gate, a masterpiece of Nepalese art, giving access to Sundari Chok which contains the ritual basin of the king of Bhaktapur, guarded by a large bronze serpent Naga. A little further from Durbar Square stands the temple of Nyatapola, a magnificent five-story pagoda dedicated to the goddess Laxmi. Stroll through the alleys of Baktapur, imbued with a medieval atmosphere, to the potters market where the huge wheels spin endlessly.

Day 07 Bhaktapur – Chitwan B – D By Road 104 Kms / 04 hrs 50 min appx.

We go there quietly by mini-bus to allow us to see this road which crosses the small villages Newar and the central Terai. When we arrive at our hotel in Nagarkot, the elephants are waiting for us! Visit at the end of the Day to the elephant breeding farm with a specialized guide.

Day 08 Chitwan B – L – D

The Day is devoted to visiting the wildlife park. First by canoe on the river to meet crocodiles and exotic birds. Then, on the back of an elephant to see tigers, rhinos, deer and antelopes.

Day 09 Chitwan – Kathmandu B – D By Flight

Return to Kathmandu by plane.

Kathmandu, capital of Nepal, still legendary after all its years, made popular in the 60s with the hippie current. We take the time to roam the city, its neighborhoods and its surroundings to visit among other things the stupa Sayambunath and Durbar square.

At the end of the Day, Nepalese cooking class at Danzee, a French-speaking Nepalese sherpa-ni from the Everest region who welcomes us to her home, in complete privacy. Then Nepalese meal in Danzee’s house.

Day 10 Kathmandu – Paro B – L – D By Flight

The flight from Kathmandu to Paro is most impressive. Spectacular views of the highest mountains in the world such as Everest in Nepal and Kachengjunga in Sikkim will pass before you. Then the landing between the green mountains and the narrow valley of Paro, will give you chills! As soon as you arrive, visit the small town of Paro and its fabulous Dzong which overlooks the valley.

Day 11 Paro – Bhumtang B – L – D By Flight

Flight to Bhumtang.

Monuments and structures keep the exploits of saints and kings alive! Bumthang is the valley of myths and legends. And its Tamshing Monastery is one of the most vibrant in the country, with its incredible stories and originality. This monastery pays homage to the works of Terton Pema Lingpa who, in the 15th century, discovered secret Tantric teachings kept hidden by Padmasambhava. Pema Lingpa was an extraordinary artist and sculptor, and with his art, he was able to transmit many stories and legends

Day 12 Bhumtang – TrongsaTrongsa – Phobjikha valley B – L – D By RoadBy Road 163 Kms / 06 hrs 30 min appx.

Departure to the green Phobjikha valley, one of the most beautiful in central Bhutan.

First stop at Chumey, where women are known for their skills in weaving Yathra garment with intricate floral patterns woven from sheep’s wool.

Halfway there we are in Trongsa. Visit the Dzong of Trongsa, reputed in the Kingdom to have been built without using a single iron nail. This very impressive fortress was for centuries at the forefront of powerful warriors, who succeeded in pushing the British-Indian army towards the southern borders of its territory.

Arrival in the afternoon in the Phojikha valley. It is the nesting place of the Black Neck Crane, a migratory bird. You will go from a sub-alpine region to a sub-tropical region in just one hour after passing the Pelela pass at 3300m. altitude! The vegetation is changing before your eyes! This pass is historically significant as the border between eastern and western Bhutan before the country was unified. From Pelela we descend into the lower valleys inhabited by semi-nomads who live at the expense of yaks and whose lifestyles have largely resisted the forces of modernization.

Day 13 Phobjikha valley – Punakha B – L – D By Road 80 Kms / 02 hrs 40 min appx.

We take the road to Punakha, through the small mountain villages where we can easily observe rural Bhutanese life in the gigantic valleys.

Day 14 Punakha B – L – D

Visit Punakha and the surrounding area with its magnificent rice terraces, and the famous Temple of Fertility, built in the 15th century to honor “the Divine Madman”, an iconoclastic saint who is also associated with the worship of the phallus. The Temple attracts infertile couples from all over the world to receive fertility blessings from a sacred phallus.

This city once served as the capital and always has the main treasures of the country in fact of Buddhist relics. In the distance, resembling a gigantic boat on an ocean floor, the fortress of Punakha Castle is also the best example of Bhutanese architecture.

Day 15 Punakha – Thimphu B – L – D By Road 80 Kms / 02 hrs 40 min appx.

The road from Punakha to Thimphu 3-4 hrs offers a panoramic view of the snow-capped eastern Himalayas and a multitude of alpine flowers and birds. Halfway, we reach the famous pass of Dochula 3,100m where on clear days we can the entire eastern Himalayan chain, with snow-capped peaks reaching 7000 m. The pass is also known for its abundance of flower varieties adding to the natural splendor of the place.

Thimphu is the capital where the government and its ministry dedicated to Gross National Happiness sit! It is also the largest city in the country, and the center of commerce and culture. Several tours are planned in Thimphu starting with Bhouddha Point which offers a 360 degree view of the city and the surrounding mountains. It is also the site of the world’s largest Shakyamuni Bhuddha statue. Next, visit the Chorten Memorial to the Third King of Bhutan, the 12th-century Changangkha Temple, the Textile Museum, and finally the impressive Tashisho Dzong, a 17th-century fortress that now houses the offices of the King of Bhutan, l ‘Chief Abbot and government departments.

In the evening, a small private cultural show for our group.

Day 16 Thimphu – Paro B – L – D By Road 50 Kms / 01 hrs 21 min appx.

From the capital, we take the road to Paro.

Day 17 Paro Tiger Nest B – L – D

The Day is devoted to the ascent and the visit of the Taktshang monastery, commonly called the Tiger’s Nest Tiger Nest. This monastery, located at around 1,000 meters above sea level and literally clinging to the rock faces of the mountain, is recognized worldwide. It is the most visited place in Bhutan, both by tourists and by Bhutanese themselves. The climb by a well laid out path lined with red rhododendrons allows spectacular views of the Paro valley. Option to ride on horseback, optional.

In the evening, a very comfortable night in a farm house with a Bhutanese family and small cooking class.

Day 18 Depart Paro B – – By Flight

After breakfast, visit the city, unique in its squares, temples and houses carved in wood, with religious motifs. The city presents itself as an authentic open-air museum. In Kathmandu, Durbar Square, the former Royal residence, the Mahadev and Parvati Temple, the Kasthamandap pagoda, the National Museum and the Swayambhunath stupa are worthy of mention. In the afternoon, visit Patan, including the old city Newar, the Golden Gate, the Temple of Teleju and the Statue of Yogendra Malla. Return to Kathmandu.

Day 03 Kathmandu – Pokhara B – D By Road 205 Kms / 05 hrs 36 min appx.

After breakfast, departure for Pokhara, a city located about 200 km west of Kathmandu. The city is better known for its location and for being an adventure center than for the cultural aspect. In the afternoon, visit the city of Pokhara, including the 1-hour tour on Lake Phewa. During the visit, we highlight the Queda do Daybo, a beautiful waterfall about 2 km from the city and also the colorful Bazaar where the different ethnic groups that live in the region make their trade.

Day 04 Pokhara – Kathmandu B – D By Road 205 Kms / 05 hrs 36 min appx.

After breakfast, departure early for Sarangkot, where you can enjoy the fantastic sunrise over the surrounding high mountains. After breakfast, return to Kathmandu. Visit Bodhnath, one of the largest Stupas in the world and also the Pashupatinath Temple.

Day 05 Kathmandu – Lhasa B – D By Flight

After breakfast, transfer to the airport and departure to Lhasa. Assistance on arrival and transport to the hotel. Lhasa, which in Tibetan language means “Holy City”, has been the capital of Tibet since the 19th century. VII B.C. when King Songtsen transferred the capital of Yarlung to this location. The city, situated at an altitude of 3500 meters in the south of the Tibetan plateau, is the cultural, political and religious center of Tibet and is famous for the Potala Palace and the Jokhang Temple. Rest of the day free. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 06 Lhasa B – D

After breakfast, departure to visit the Sera Monastery, located at the foot of the Wudu mountain and from where it is possible to admire a magnificent landscape over the city of Lhasa. The monastery houses about 150 monks and has several Buddhas from the Nepalese and inDayna schools. Then visit Norbulingka, located in the western part of the city. It is a huge garden full of palaces built by the various Dalai Lamas, as summer residences. It was in this place, after the 7th Dalai Lama, that important meetings and activities were taking place. The Jokhang Temple, located in the heart of the city, is one of the most important places of pilgrimage. This old temple houses the most precious religious relic in Tibet, the golden Buddha of Sakyamuni, an offering from the Chinese princess Wen Cheng. Finally, visit Barkhor, an octagonal pilgrimage circuit around the Jokhang temple and the market.

Day 07 Lhasa B – D

After breakfast, visit the Potala Palace, a true symbol of the city. The Palace was built by the famous King Songtsen Gampo for his wife, Princess Wencheng and later used as a winter palace by the different Dalai Lamas. It currently functions as a museum, housing numerous pieces of art, a symbol of Tibetan history and culture. In the afternoon, visit to the Drepung Mosteito, a funerary in the 14th century, which housed more than 10,000 Lamas. There are now a few hundred monks left, but there are still many things of interest that have withstood the cultural revolution.

Day 08 Lhasa – Kathmandu B – D By Flight

After breakfast, transfer to Lhasa airport. Boarding and departure formalities for Kathmandu. Assistance on arrival and transport to the hotel. In the afternoon, visit Badhgaon, one of the three royal cities in the valley and which still preserves medieval architecture of great beauty and full of statues and pagodas. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 10 Thimphu B – L – D

After breakfast, visit the capital of Bhutan, Thimphu, which is the largest city in the country, located in a beautiful valley, 2300 meters above sea level. The visit starts at Tashichhdzong, the fortress monastery that houses most government offices and the throne room. It is still the summer residence of the supreme Buddhist chief of Bhutan. Built in 1641 by

Bhutan’s unifier, Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, was rebuilt in 1960 using traditional Bhutanese methods. Then visit the National Memorial Chorten, which is a mixture of

monument to peace and prosperity munDayl as well as a memorial to the 4th king of Bhutan. After lunch at the hotel, visit the National Library, which houses a large collection of Buddhist literature, the Zorig Chusum Institute, known as the painting school and the Institute National Institute of Tropical Medicine.

Day 11 Thimphu B – L – D

After breakfast, departure for Wangduephodrang, passing through Dochu-la, at an altitude of 3088 meters. Short stop to visit the temple decorated with numerous prayer flags. On clear days it is possible to see 7 peaks of the Himalayas with an altitude above 7000 meters. Upon arrival at Wangduephodrang, visit the beautiful Dzong, built in 1638 at the confluence of 2 rivers. After lunch at a local restaurant, visit Punakha, the capital of Bhutan until 1955 and still the winter residence of the supreme Buddhist chief. Due to its location at low altitude and between 2 rivers, Punakha is the most fertile valley in the country. The Dzong was built in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal as a religious and administrative center in the region. After a recent reconstruction, this is the best preserved and most beautiful Dzong in the country. Return to Thimphu.

Day 12 Thimphu – Paro B – L – D By Road 51 Kms / 01 hrs 20 min appx.

After breakfast, departure for Paro, visiting on the way the Simzhak Dzong, which is the oldest in the country and which currently houses the school of religious and cultural studies in Bhutan. After lunch at the hotel, visit the famous temple of Kyichu Lhakhang, built in the year 659 by King Songtsen Gampo. Finally, visit to Dzong de Paro, also known as Rinpung Dzong, built in 1645, to defend the valley from Tibetan invasions, today being a monastery.

After breakfast, visit the famous and magical monastery of Taktsang ninho do Tigre, built on a ledge of a vertical granite wall, 900 meters above the Paro valley. Its name comes from a legend, in which Guru Rinpoche, flew across the mountains to this place, mounted on a tiger. When he found a cave, he meditated for 3 months and converted the population of the valley to Buddhism. After lunch, visit the ruins of the Dzong Drukgyel, 18 km from Paro and where the battle that repelled Tibetans from invading Bhutan in the 17th century took place.

Later after breakfast, it is a full exploration day in Kathmandu. We will take you for a cultural sightseeing tour of Heritage monuments in Kathmandu valley. We go for an in-depth and guided city tour of Swoyambhunath – the ancient most Buddhist stupa in Kathmandu valley; Patan Durbar Square – one of the medieval palace squares in the valley; Pashupatinath – the most important Hindu temple premises with Hindu cremation site; and Boudhanath – the biggest Buddhist stupa in the world.

The day’s Itinerary will give you an understanding of the rich cultural, spiritual and historical heritage of Kathmandu valley.

Once we come back at the hotel, we will have a relaxing meditation and yoga session.

Day 03 Kathmandu – Paro B – L – D By Flight

Breakfast and Excursion to Taksang monastery, nicknamed the Tiger Refuge, perched at more than 3,000 m. It is one of the most revered places of pilgrimage in the Himalayan world. Approx. Three hour round trip through pine forests on a steep trail. Possibility of doing part of the horseback ride to be paid on site.

Afternoon, drive to Thimphu.

Thimphu, capital of Bhutan, at 2,500 m altitude. Discover the magnificent paintings and sculptures of the Memorial Chorten and stroll through the main shopping street.

After breakfast, discover the school of painting, sculpture and embroidery. Continuation to the folklore museum, a pretty 300-year-old house that recreates traditional housing. Discovery of a paper factory and the beautiful textile museum. Visit the Tashichho dzong, built in 1627. Seat of the government of Bhutan, it is the most impressive building in the city.

Day 06 Thimphu – Punakha B – L – D By Road 86 Kms / 02 hrs 27 min appx.

After breakfast, Pass the Dochu pass at an altitude of 3,100 m, from where you can see the first peaks of the eastern face of the Himalayas. Further on, stop at Lobeysa for a walk through the fields to the monastery of Chimi, built in the 15th century. Discovery of the Punakha dzong, beautifully situated at the confluence of two rivers.

Punakha is a town in the Himalayas of Bhutan. It’s known for the Punakha Dzong, a 17th-century fortress at the juncture of the Pho and Mo Chhu rivers. The fortress hosts the Punakha Tshechu, a religious festival featuring masked dances and music. In the surrounding Punakha Valley, temples include the fertility-focused Chimi Lhakhang and the hilltop Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, which has river and mountain views.

Day 08 Punakha – Paro B – L – D By Road 127 Kms / 03 hrs 26 min appx.

The day starts with an early morning yoga practice.

Yoga teacher will be there to conduct an energizing Yoga and Meditation session.

After breakfast, Ascension on foot about 1 hour to the 17th century Chorten Ningpo and its large statue of Matreya also possible by bus. Continue to Paro considered one of the first valleys of Bhutan to have received the Buddhist imprint, as evidenced by the temple of Kyichu founded in the 7th century.

Day 09 Paro – Kathmandu B – D By Flight

After breakfast, Flight to Kathmandu. Excursion to the Budhanilkantha temple and its astonishing statue of Vishnu lying on the primordial serpent.

Continue to the restored palace of Babar Mahal. Visit the Siddhartha contemporary art gallery to share a coffee with the artists.

Day 10 Depart Kathmandu B – – By Flight

Departure transfer to Kathmandu International Airport for flight to onward destination.
